Over the past year, we’ve taken a break from the larger renovation projects. Once we finished the bathroom, we focused on furnishing our home and updating a few little things that make a house a home.
Our 107 year old home has the original push button light switches. The plates around the buttons are in pretty rough shape. We want to keep the historical age of the home so we found very similar push button plates that are brand new from houseofantiquehardware.com. Before on the left and after on the right. They are right by the front door so we added some hooks we bought in New Orleans for our keys.
Our living room had a very large victorian mantel, bar, built-in piece. It was centered on the only wall to fit a full size couch in the room. The couch was more of a necessity than a built-in bar, so we sold it to a lovely couple.
The foyer will have some major updates later on (in another post) that involves exposed brick and removal of popcorn ceiling. For now we’ve updated the paint color to Benjamin Moore’s Metropolitan. Still deciding on paint color for the door and a new light fixture.
Stay tuned for the little things part 2. There are so many small projects in this house to keep us busy!
